Food & Beverage Regulatory Compliance Counsel

Join a prestigious AmLaw 50 firm in Washington, D.C., as a Counsel specializing in FDA regulatory compliance and enforcement for the food industry. This challenging position offers a unique opportunity to impact the food and beverage sector by navigating complex regulatory frameworks and enforcement actions to ensure compliance and strategic risk management. Engage in high-stakes litigation and counsel high-profile clients to anticipate and mitigate potential legal risks, providing a critical legal service in an ever-evolving regulatory landscape.

Salary: $365,000.00 - $420,000.00 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice on FDA regulatory compliance matters, including product labeling, safety standards, and marketing practices within the food industry.
  • Represent and defend clients in enforcement actions and regulatory matters before the FDA and other governmental bodies.
  • Develop and oversee clients' compliance programs and internal investigations to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
  • Monitor and analyze regulatory developments in the food and beverage industry to proactively counsel clients on emerging risks and opportunities.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-disciplinary teams within the firm to address complex legal and regulatory challenges.
  • Leverage experience from prior positions or associations with regulatory agencies like the FDA to provide strategic guidance and advocacy.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • JD from a top-tier law school with a strong academic record.
  • Active Bar Admission in Washington, D.C.
  • Considerable experience in FDA regulatory compliance and enforcement ideally within the food industry.
  • Past or present experience at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is essential.
  • Demonstrated analytical, writing, and advocacy skills.
  • Proven ability to engage effectively with both clients and regulatory agencies.

  • Extensive background in food industry regulations and deep understanding of related legal and operational contexts.
  • Proven track record of handling high-profile litigation and compliance matters.
  • Experience in providing crisis management counsel under stringent timelines.
  • Capability to manage high-volume caseloads and multi-dimensional legal issues concurrently.
