In partnership with United Way of Portage County, we are seeking a full-time Community Engagement Coordinator. This is a full-time, direct hire opportunity for the qualified and interested candidate. What You’ll Be Doing:
As our Community Engagement Coordinator, you’ll be the heartbeat of our volunteer-driven programs. You’ll help create meaningful experiences that connect people with purpose whether you’re organizing a diaper bank drive, leading a corporate kit-packing event, or helping neighbors prepare for back-to-school through Project Fresh Start.
This role is part logistics, part relationship-building, and 100% people-powered. You’ll collaborate with businesses, nonprofits, and community members to bring energy, compassion, and coordination to volunteer experiences that make a real difference.
What You’ll Take the Lead On:
* Planning, promoting, and executing volunteer programs like:
Laurel’s Little Diaper and Hygiene Bank
Project Fresh Start
Make a Difference Day
* Strategic Volunteer Engagement events
* Facilitating engaging corporate and community volunteer experiences, including hands-on leadership at events.
* Managing volunteer logistics: scheduling, supplies, communications, and on-site support.
* Building and maintaining strong relationships with corporate partners, nonprofits, and community groups.
* Promoting our work through public speaking, media outreach, and social media content (in partnership with our marketing manager).
* Encouraging community-wide use of VolunteersRock.org and 211 for volunteer and resource connections.
* Supporting community disaster response through a Volunteer Reception Center (training provided).
* Updating the annual Community Resource Guide in collaboration with local partners.

• Minimum of a two-year associate degree preferred in human services work, non-profit, volunteer management, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of program outcomes and program evaluation tools
• Knowledge of program/project coordination, excellence in customer service, and volunteer engagement
• Possess proven history of event planning/coordination, volunteer recruitment and recognition.
• Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects while working in a fast-paced environment with accuracy and positivity.
• The ability to communicate verbally and in writing to effectively engage audiences in building a pool of diverse community volunteers.
• Understanding of corporate social responsibility and volunteerism and how it relates to the work of United Way and the Volunteer Center.
• Proven skills in using MS Office Software Suite and ability to learn, adapt to and run a volunteer database.
• Attendance at state and national conferences and other classes/seminars may be required.
