Job Description
IN OFFICE POSITION. We are an established Steel Sub-contractor based in the greater New York Metropolitan area. We are looking for an experienced structural and miscellaneous steel detailer to join our office located in midtown Manhattan. Our ideal candidate will have extensive experience detailing for structural and miscellaneous steel projects. They will have experience detailing for multiple medium to large scale projects simultaneously. They will have experience using multiple 2D & 3D CAD software.
Some of the experience we are looking for is:
· 5 years’ experience as a steel detailer
· Experience using AUTOCAD, Revit, Tekla/ Advanced Steel
· General knowledge of the steel industry
· Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
· Developed fabrication shop drawings
· Experience in BIM coordinated projects required
Daily Role & Responsibilities:
· Read structural and architectural drawings to develop shop & erection drawings using AutoCAD & Tekla
· Assist Project Managers managing RFI’s
· Responding to RFI’s from client & general contractor
· Assist the estimating department and project managers in analyzing the cost impact for change orders
· Coordinate & collaborate with our clients & other trades BIM coordinators to ensure an accurate BIM model
· Attend web-based or in-person meetings with clients BIM coordinator
· Analyze and revise drawings based off the engineer’s comments, architects’ changes, site conditions etc.
The standard working hours are from 8am to 4:30pm Monday-Friday. However, some overtime will be required to meet deadlines.
