The John W Keys Speech and Hearing Center, established in 1971, is a comprehensive training clinic with provides clinical interns in audiology and speech-language pathology with hands-on, state-of-the-art training. Clinical care is provided to the Oklahoma City metro community by these interns, under the supervision of licensed and credentialed experts. The Keys Center is located in the College of Allied Health building on the campus of OU Health Sciences in Oklahoma City. We are looking for a part-time speech-language pathologist to join our team. We seek a responsible, engaged, and compassionate SLP to join the team of the iLEAP language enrichment pre-K program in the John W Keys Speech and Hearing Center . This is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the linguistic and social development of children diagnosed with or suspected of having autism spectrum disorders. The iLEAP program is growing and seeking dedicated professionals to sustain that growth into the future. Duties: Supports the iLEAP pre-K program through supervision of the classroom two days per week, as well as administrative/planning duties as assigned. Provides clinical education support to graduate students interns in speech-language pathology at appropriate levels for the skill level of each individual intern. Discusses client history, evaluations and treatment plans with SLP graduate interns to prepare them to provide the appropriate services for children in the iLEAP program. Creates goals and objectives for clients to work toward and identify areas of progress and challenges. Prepares engaging and client-centered exercises and activities to use during iLEAP sessions. Provides counseling to clients and their families and consultations for new clients. Educates clients, family, and caregivers on treatment and needs of the client. Recommends appropriate services or treatment and/or referrals of clients to other specialties as appropriate. Maintains continuing education required for licensure and certification and works to advance personal knowledge and experience within the field. May provide guest lectures in undergraduate/graduate seminars or courses per area of expertise as assigned. Works effectively with individuals having diverse social, cultural, racial, and ethnic backgrounds. Performs various duties as needed to fulfill the functions of the position. Job Requirements Required education: Master's Degree in Speech/Language Pathology. Skills: Knowledge of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations and other patient privacy laws. Proficient working with computer software used for documentation and report preparation. Attention to detail when handling and documenting important medical information. Ability to be professional and patient when explaining procedures and processes to patients, family, or care givers. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Working Conditions: Physical: Requires standing and walking, as well as the ability to sit and stand frequently to appropriately engage with clients. Speaking and Listening Environmental: Office/Clinical environment; pre-K classroom Certifications or Licenses: Applicants must hold or be eligible to obtain current licensure in speech-language pathology and be in good standing with the Oklahoma State Board of Examiners. Department Preferences: Experience working with preschool children on the autism spectrum and/or with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) Applicants to also hold the certificate of clinical competence in speech-language pathology (CCC-SLP), have completed a minimum of three years of practice post-certification, and have earned at least two hours of continuing education in supervision and/or clinical instruction.
