About Our Internships

Our paid internship program is thoughtfully curated to provide students with experience and exposure to the healthcare industry. Interns will be given the opportunity to get hands-on experience with real work projects, build meaningful relationships and connections within the organization, and experience our mission and enterprise goals through our program curriculum centered on our leadership model (Personal, People, Thought, and Results Leadership). Our Summer 2025 Internship is June 9th or June 16th through August 15th, 2025. 

Application Process and Timeline:

• If you meet the requirements, you will receive an invitation to complete a Pre-Recorded Video Interview
• 2nd round interviews & offers extended

As an intern at Blue Shield of California, you will:

• Participate in impactful projects during a 10-week internship program
• Undertake a 10-week curriculum designed to familiarize interns with BSC, leadership development, exposure to the healthcare industry, and more
• Be invited to participate in BSC employee events and networking opportunities such as Employee Resource Groups, employee volunteer activities, and more

General Requirements:

• Must reside in the state of California for the duration of the internship
• Hybrid requirements - Preferably live within a 50-mile radius of a BSC office and be available for in-office collaboration 2 times per month
• Must currently be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at the time of the internship, with a graduation date of December 2025 or later

Your Role

The Pega and Salesforce Center of Excellence Team is focused on optimizing solutions and maximizing value across the enterprise. Both platforms are utilized across the enterprise to help accelerate our transformation program, enable innovation, and help realize our vision for a reimagined healthcare system. Our team works cross-functionally to deliver scalable solutions that drive process transformation and achieve business value. The team is responsible for driving critical business and vendor alignment, defining, and executing the enterprise product roadmap, and maintaining operational excellence. We are a dynamic and fast-paced team that has a passion for driving business value through technology solutions.

Your Work

In this role, you will:

• Be accountable for leading/supporting Pega and Salesforce initiatives across various business areas and team process improvement opportunities
• Drive program and project management activities and support leaders with business case development, initiative prioritization, and roadmaps/timeline creation
• Collaborate with business to quickly understand business scope, evaluate user needs, and define desired outcomes
• Lead collection and rationalization of business requirements, complex data analysis, defining future state designs, writing user stories, and more
• Past Intern projects have included: 
  • Defining intake and prioritization processes
  • Leading system security assessment and alignment
  • Contract renewal management
  • Define and implement team training program

Your Knowledge and Experience 

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
• Strong MS Office knowledge (PowerPoint, Excel)
• Knowledge of project management, agile methodologies, SDLC
• Business/data analysis
• Technical acumen
• A passion for using technology to achieve business outcomes
• Pega and/or Salesforce experience is a plus
