Responsibilities

• Assist all patients that report to the front checkin desk.
• Greet patients in a prompt, courteous and professional manner.
• Interact with a diverse patient population.
• Utilize the electronic medical record to maintain patient records via the registration process and scan functionality.
• Update insurance information, attend appointments, collect patient copays and other duties as assigned at the time of patient checkin for scheduled appointments.
• Be knowledgeable with state and government agencies to provide proper consents for patients who are wards of the state; work with facilities to obtain proper consents from patient proxies.
• Schedule followup appointments and referrals as needed when patients checkout.
• Communicate professionally and timely with all parties, including providers, patients, clinical care team, and insurance companies.
• Answer incoming phone calls and direct appropriately to team members.
• Convey a professional image by adhering to the established dress code.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Responsible for the registration and scheduling process for complex patients.
• Responsible for updating the system with registration, scheduling and insurance information.
• Prepare patient disability and outofwork/school paperwork.
• Discuss financial obligations and explain regulatory forms, as well as answer patient questions.
• Work across multiple systems during patientfacing interactions and telephone call receipts to complete accurate registration and support the clinical workflow.
• Understand the practice and hospital strategic plan.
• Support plans, policies, procedures and initiatives within the scope of department expectations and the role.
• Represent Albany Med and support the ideals and principles of the department, the Practice, the Hospital and the Center.
• Exemplify Albany Med CARES guiding principles.
• Champion an optimal patient experience.
• Promote patient and employee safety as the top priority.
• Promote a safe environment and promptly report issues.
• Understand patient safety goals.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/G.E.D. required.
• 23 years of office experience, or one year of related experience in a medical practice preferred.
• Experience using an electronic health record and Microsoft Office a plus.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to multitask in a high patient volume unit.
• Ability to learn and utilize resources.
• Strong time management skills.
• Ability to review information and draw appropriate conclusions.
• Good judgment and problemsolving ability; ability to escalate issues as needed.
• Strong teamwork skills and work ethic.
