Our Agency builds better lives by offering more than 30 programs that meet needs across all ages, delivering services to more than 13,000 people each year. Our clients reside primarily in Norwalk, Wilton, Darien, Westport, Weston, New Canaan, Stamford, and Greenwich. Our Home Care and Foster Care programs provide assistance to residents throughout Fairfield County, and the Adoption program is both nationwide and international.

FCA is proud to currently offer a hybrid working model to our employees. Employees enjoy a wide array of benefits that make up our competitive compensation package. We are proud to offer generous employer contributions to our medical plans, continued education credits offered at no cost, annual tuition reimbursement stipend, employer paid Life & LTD policies, FSA and Dependent Care, 401K with a match and a generous vacation and time off policy to include Martin Luther King Jr Day and Juneteenth! We also offer employee discounts to multiple organizations, events and your cell phone plan. Our benefits don't stop there - we offer an EAP program, paid for CEUs and clinical supervision, summer Fridays and employee appreciation events along with wellness incentives and challenges!

At Family & Children’s Agency (FCA), we believe every family deserves support, stability, and hope. As a Reunification, Therapeutic Family Time (RTFT), and Intensive Family Preservation (IFP) Therapist, you’ll play a vital role in helping families overcome challenges and rebuild stronger connections. This position is ideal for compassionate, mission-driven professionals who want to make a real impact through direct service, clinical engagement, and advocacy.

What You’ll Do:

In this dynamic, community-based role, you will provide intensive, strength-based support to families involved with the Connecticut Department of Children and Families (DCF). You’ll work directly with parents, caregivers, and children to ensure safety, strengthen family relationships, and prevent or reverse out-of-home placements.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting strength-based assessments to identify needs, safety risks, and protective factors.
  • Developing and implementing individualized service plans focused on family reunification and stability.
  • Facilitating therapeutic family time to help parents and children rebuild trust and connection.
  • Providing parent coaching, education, and advocacy to enhance positive parenting practices.
  • Addressing issues such as substance use, domestic violence, mental health, poverty, cultural barriers, and parenting limitations through targeted interventions.
  • Collaborating with DCF, community partners, and natural supports to ensure holistic care.
  • Maintaining timely, accurate, and confidential case documentation.
  • Participating in team meetings, case reviews, and supervision to support professional growth.
  • Taking part in a 24/7 on-call rotation to provide crisis intervention for IFP and RTFT clients.

Why You’ll Love Working Here:

  • Mission-Driven Work: Join a respected nonprofit committed to strengthening families and empowering communities.
  • Meaningful Impact: Every visit and conversation directly helps a child and family move toward healing and stability.
  • Supportive Team: Work within a collaborative, values-based environment where staff growth and self-care are encouraged.
  • Professional Development: Access regular supervision, training, and advancement opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Education : Master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, education, or a related field preferred; a bachelor’s degree with relevant experience will be considered.
  • Experience : Minimum two years working with children and families, ideally in home-based or community settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and support families with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Professionalism, self-awareness, cultural competence, and compassion under challenging circumstances.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
  • Schedule and Caseload
  • Caseload varies by program type and intensity, generally up to six (6) active families.
  • Flexible scheduling with a combination of home, community, and office-based work.

Join us if you’re passionate about helping families thrive and want to be part of a caring, mission-driven organization, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply today to make a lasting impact—one family at a time.
