Responsibilities

  • The Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Commercial Advisory Director performs a key risk management role (second line of defense) to help ensure corporate initiatives and lines of business processes comply with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Provide compliance advice to lines of business as a subject matter expert and execute or participate in AML-related processes.
  • Support the commercial sub-line of business by providing input on regulatory requirements, guidance on policies, standards, and procedures, and by developing/leading department training as appropriate.
  • Provide guidance on controls over regulatory requirements and line of business monitoring of those controls; perform money laundering risk assessment reviews.
  • Directly engage with and influence business stakeholders to ensure AML requirements are addressed within the line of business; support Capital One Commercial sub-lines of business.

  • Typically Reports to: Senior Director

Basic Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance, or 5 years in legal, or 5 years in general regulatory compliance, legal, controls or audit with AML as a component
  • At least 5 years of experience supporting, partnering, and interacting within internal business clients in commercial banking, or 7 years in the broader financial services industry
  • Bachelors degree or military experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10 years of experience in compliance, legal, controls or audit
  • ACAMS certifications
  • Masters Degree or Juris Doctor (JD)
  • 3 years of experience in securities
  • 3 years of experience in investment banking
