Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Directional Drill Operator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment to install underground fiber internet, such as pipelines, cables, and conduits, with precision and efficiency. This role requires a strong understanding of drilling mechanics, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate HDD Equipment: Safely and efficiently operate directional drilling machinery to drill underground paths for utilities.
• Read and Interpret Blueprints: Analyze and follow blueprints, schematics, and other plans to determine the most effective drilling path.
• Monitor Drilling Process: Continuously monitor the drilling process to ensure accuracy, making adjustments as necessary.
• Maintain Equipment: Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on drilling equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Ensure Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and protect the crew and environment.
• Coordinate with Team: Work closely with other team members, including drillers, locators, and supervisors, to ensure project success.
• Document Work: Keep detailed records of the drilling process, including daily logs, reports, and any incidents.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 1 years of experience as a directional drill operator or similar role.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in HDD equipment preferred.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in operating HDD equipment and understanding of drilling mechanics.
• Problem-Solving: Strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during the drilling process.
• Attention to Detail: High level of precision and accuracy in drilling operations.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to work long hours in various environmental conditions.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with team members and stakeholders.
• Safety Awareness: In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in the drilling industry.

Work Environment:

• Outdoor work in various weather conditions.
• Exposure to noise, dust, and other environmental factors.
• Physical demands include lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods.
