Job Description

With oversight and direction from the Director and Medical Director of the Center for Standardized Patients and Simulation (CSPS), the Assistant Director of Simulation will manage all day-to-day operational aspects of simulation events sponsored by CSPS. Other primary duties include operation and maintenance of all simulation equipment, depreciation and replacement of current simulation equipment, supervision of simulation specialists, and mentoring simulation specialists in professional development and certification. The role assists in the development and implementation of education programs advancing knowledge, skills, and competency of osteopathic medical students, physicians, and other healthcare professionals using CSPS’s standardized patient program. Responsibilities include working closely with faculty on curriculum development and delivery, overseeing student scheduling for assessment and evaluation, managing standardized patient recruitment, hiring, scheduling, training, evaluation, and reimbursement, maintaining updated files of standardized patients, coordinating with Assistant Director for Simulation on high fidelity simulators and technology, collaborating on clinical examination construction and delivery, providing budgetary feedback, ensuring efficient department operation, acting as liaison among faculty, staff, students, and vendors, managing communications for standardized patient activities, coordinating quality management and accreditation reporting, developing educational and evaluation materials, utilizing B-line LMS for recordings and video playback for training, and performing other assigned duties. Supervisory responsibilities include oversight of standardized patients. Qualifications include a minimum of high school graduate or GED, preferred bachelor’s degree, at least three years of leadership or supervision experience, three years related experience with standardized patients, and certification as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) or Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS). Essential abilities include effective oral and written communication in English, teaching and motivating others, multitasking, cooperation, prioritization, confidentiality, problem solving, physical ability to transport oneself to various locations, and proficiency in computer skills such as Microsoft Office and email. The work environment is a climate-controlled office with moderate noise level. Driving to other campus or off-campus sites may be required occasionally.
