Vice President, Marketing and Ecosystem Platforms and Engineering

Join Pfizer to apply for the Vice President, Marketing and Ecosystem Platforms and Engineering role, a key leadership position within the Digital and Technology organization reporting to SVP Digital Commercial and Center for Digital Innovation (C4). The role will lead a team responsible for translating Pfizer's strategy into innovative digital, technology, and data platforms, defining strategic direction, technical vision, and operational excellence for platforms that support more than 10,000 marketing colleagues across the Commercial organization. The leader will integrate advanced engineering practices, drive innovation, continuous improvement, and enterprise-wide transformation.

Enterprise Strategy and Innovation

  • Define and evolve the enterprise platform strategy aligned with Pfizers long-term business priorities.
  • Embed continuous improvement and innovation into daily operations across C4.
  • Lead design of solutions for complex, multi-faceted problems with long-term enterprise impact.
  • Anticipate emerging challenges such as AI governance, platform sustainability, and developer experience, ensuring adaptability.
  • Maintain deep commercial business knowledge and external market trends to anticipate needs of C4 and Pfizers global units.

Technology Leadership

  • Oversee architecture, design, and delivery of Pfizers global commercial platforms, including Adobe suite, Web & Mobile ecosystem, Python & AWS automation, Salesforce Marketing CRM, CDP, and Identity Platforms.
  • Make enterprise-level decisions on platform selection, vendor partnerships, technical designs, and implementation roadmaps.
  • Champion privacy-first and security-first engineering practices, ensuring compliance and trust at scale.
  • Drive FinOps strategies to optimize cloud spend and improve efficiency.
  • Serve as a recognized technical authority in commercial architecture and core technology platforms.

Organizational Influence

  • Act as strategic advisor on enterprise-wide initiatives impacting operational and functional excellence.
  • Influence senior leadership and external stakeholders through thought leadership and technical expertise.
  • Represent C4 in governance forums, steering committees, and industry engagements.

People and Culture

  • Define people, technology, and financial resourcing strategy for the Platform Engineering team.
  • Lead a diverse, global team fostering agility, inclusion, accountability, and excellence.
  • Build talent pipelines through succession planning, leadership development, and training programs.
  • Act on Developer Experience survey results to continuously improve delivery ease and work quality.
  • Encourage balanced risk-taking for innovation while maintaining stability.

Delivery and Operations

  • Ensure high-quality platforms and services from inception through global deployment.
  • Oversee large-scale delivery programs, platform operations, and vendor partnerships.
  • Optimize delivery economics through disciplined estimation, contract negotiation, and efficiency.

Incident Management and Resilience

  • Lead responses to critical security incidents and operational outages.
  • Direct technical troubleshooting and guide root-cause analysis and long-term remediation.
  • Drive resilience engineering practices and conduct post-mortem reviews.
  • Ensure all solutions incorporate privacy and security principles from the outset.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Information Management, Computer Science, Engineering, or Technology Management.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience as an IT professional, designing, delivering, and maintaining large-scale global systems in platform engineering, architecture, and emerging technologies.
  • Exceptional communication, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build trusted relationships and influence outcomes.
  • Experience leading enterprise strategy and large-scale transformation in regulated environments.
  • Proficiency in Pharma industry knowledge, customer requirements, and business environments.
  • Strong leadership experience managing large global organizations across distributed teams.
  • Financial acumen managing resources across multiple functions.
  • Vendor sourcing experience with effective negotiation and strategic execution.
  • Technical expertise in at least one of the following: Adobe enterprise platforms, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, generative AI technologies, AWS/SaaS platforms, modern web development frameworks.

Other Requirements

  • Travel required; must be able to travel regionally and internationally.
  • Work schedule may include weekends, holidays, or after-hours periods.
  • Role is full-time and requires permanent U.S. work authorization.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range: $256,100 $426,800. Eligible for Pfizer Global Performance Plan with a 30% bonus target and long-term incentive program. Comprehensive benefits include 401(k) with company match, retirement savings contribution, paid vacation and holiday, medical/dental/vision coverage, and more. Relocation assistance may be available.
