American Traveler is seeking an experienced ER RN to join a high-acuity Level II Trauma Center with a diverse patient population and variable shifts.

\n \n Responsibilities\n
  • Hospital-based Emergency Department in a Level II Trauma Center
  • Serves a broad regional population with 150-180 patients seen daily
  • 33-bed main ED including trauma/resuscitation and behavioral health rooms
  • Patient ratio is typically 1:4-5 for RNs
  • Care provided for neonates through geriatric patients, including trauma, critical care, and stroke cases
  • Required to perform evidence collection for sexual assault patients in rotation with permanent staff (excluding pelvic exams)
  • Uses Epic EMR, Omnicell, and Alaris equipment
  • Variable 12-hour shifts with potential to work a variety of start times, may include weekends; no on-call required
  • Possible floating to Med/Surg, PCU, or ICU as a task nurse within scope of practice
  • Responsibilities include triage, prioritizing urgent patient needs, and care for all trauma and medical emergencies
  • Expected to be capable of evidence collection for forensic patients with support resources available
  • Support provided by charge nurse, ED techs, respiratory therapists, 24/7 phlebotomy, security, and physician/hospitalist/NP coverage
  • Orientation includes 8 hours facility onboarding, 4 hours ED-specific training, and at least two 12-hour unit shifts
  • Scrub color is Navy
  • Free parking available
  • Holiday coverage may be required as needed
  • Manager approval required for time off; no time off is approved during the first 3 weeks of August annually
  • Must not be a first-time traveler; prior travel nurses welcomed after a 1-year pause if previously employed perm

  • Active SD or compact RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years recent ED RN experience excluding prior travel experience preferred (1.5 years with additional acute care experience considered upon review)
  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program
  • Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, and PALS; CPI or MAB/MOAB preferred
  • Experience with triage using ESI assessments and all specified ED patient types is required
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • Must reside greater than 100 miles from any affiliated facility
