We are seeking a Surgery Scheduler, to become a part of our team! You will coordinate surgical procedures by scheduling dates with surgeons and facilities, preparing patients for surgery, managing physician calendars, and maintaining communication between patients, surgeons, and surgical staff to ensure efficient operations and positive patient experiences.

Responsibilities:

• Obtain insurance pre-authorizations
• Schedule necessary equipment and anesthesia
• Manage physician calendars and coordinate surgery dates based on surgeon availability, patient needs, and operating room access
• Explain the surgical process to patients, provide pre-operative instructions, answer questions, and gather essential information like medical history and insurance details
• Communicates information to patients
• Enhances practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments

​ Qualifications:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are needed to effectively interact with patients, surgeons, and staff
• Experience with Athena is a plus
• Strong attention to detail is crucial for managing complex schedules and sensitive information
• Familiarity with medical terminology and understanding of the surgical process and requirements is essential
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Professionalism
• Ability to use electronic medical records (EMRs) and other scheduling software to maintain patient information and calendars
• A patient and customer-focused attitude to provide a positive experience for patients undergoing surgical procedures
