Job Description

The Critical Operations Supervisor is responsible for the supervision, tactical execution, installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing/piping equipment, machinery and controls located in the interior and exterior of building. This person is responsible to coordinate and integrate all aspects of electrical, mechanical and plumbing maintenance of all natures, maintenance contracting for service to critical equipment, planning for the capital equipment replacement and new construction with direct responsibility of the tactical deployment of the Critical Environment Team. This role is also responsible for team leadership responsibilities including development, on-the-job training, coaching, mentoring, and assisting with staffing job assignments. This role requires on-site work hours to support a 24X7X365 data center environment and is not eligible for remote and/or hybrid work. This position will train on first shift for the first 3 months and be a floating supervisor to all 6 buildings on campus. Hours will then shift to 4pm -12am after 3 months of training. Responsibilities include maintaining, establishing and implementing facility policies, procedures and organizational structure within management and corporate policy boundaries; development of emergency response planning and management; leading preventive maintenance on equipment such as refrigeration, HVAC, electrical, emergency backup systems, boilers, pumps, valves, and other mechanical and electrical equipment; overseeing work orders for maintenance and budgeting; supervising critical and non-critical system equipment and third-party contractors; leading emergency responses; reviewing and providing input on operating budgets; conferring with subject matter experts to resolve operational problems; maintaining positive communication with staff and management; utilizing performance indicators to monitor operational effectiveness; performing Building Management System Console operations as qualified; complying with hazardous materials policies; ensuring a clean and safe workplace; providing updates to management; standing in for the Critical Environment Manager as needed; supervising with confidentiality and discretion; and training, developing, mentoring, and coaching Critical Environment Technicians. Basic qualifications include a technical college degree or equivalent experience, four or more years of data center experience, completion of apprenticeship in Mechanical, Electrical, CPR, AED, Journeyman or QTS cert CET Level III or equivalent. Preferred qualifications include seven or more years of related experience in data centers or similar environments and two or more years of team leadership experience. The role requires excellent interpersonal skills, customer service, problem analysis, ability to manage complex situations off-hours, strong communication skills, teamwork, ability to pass job-related skills assessments, and physical ability to perform tasks involving lifting and movement.
