Job Description

We are seeking a Senior or Director-Level Maintenance Mechanical Engineer to join a world-class specialty chemical production facility located in the Luling, Louisiana area. This is a direct-hire leadership role responsible for driving long-term asset reliability, mechanical integrity, and equipment performance for a state-of-the-art operation producing critical materials for electric vehicle batteries and semiconductor applications.

This is an opportunity to shape the reliability culture of a new, high-spec greenfield facility. The right candidate will bring strategic insight and hands-on leadership in mechanical systems—particularly rotating equipment, inspection programs, and predictive maintenance technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as technical authority for rotating equipment, mechanical integrity, and long-term reliability strategy
• Design and implement plant-wide asset management programs for critical equipment systems
• Lead all aspects of mechanical inspection, including planning, analysis, compliance (API, ASME, etc.), and reporting
• Coordinate capital and maintenance projects in partnership with operations, engineering, and third-party vendors
• Lead failure investigations and root cause analysis; develop mitigation strategies for long-term performance
• Define and approve standards for preventive and predictive maintenance, mechanical design, and repair procedures
• Interface with EPCs, OEMs, and global stakeholders to ensure robust and efficient mechanical systems from commissioning onward
• Contribute to long-term planning and budgeting for maintenance and mechanical upgrades

Qualifications:

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or related field); advanced degree a plus
• 20+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing, high-purity process industries, or EPCs supporting operating assets
• Proven expertise with rotating equipment: pumps, compressors, blowers, gearboxes, mechanical seals
• In-depth knowledge of mechanical codes and standards, including ASME, API, and relevant inspection protocols
• Experience implementing and managing asset reliability programs and CMMS systems (e.g., SAP, Maximo)
• Strong background in specialty chemicals, methanol, hydrogen, pharmaceuticals, or high-alloy process environments
• Refining-only experience is not a match for this position
• Must be located in or willing to relocate to the greater New Orleans area
