Sr. Director, Governmental Affairs and Public Policy Pay Competitive Location Washington/District Of Columbia Employment type Full-Time Job Description Req#: 8BTPH Position Overview The Director is a lobbyist, public and coalition liaison for AGA and is responsible for several of AGA’s federal affairs goals and programs. Role and Responsibilities * Identifying, monitoring, analyzing and influencing government policies, legislation and regulations development of policies, positions and goals. * Lobbying Congress on behalf of the natural gas utility industry on a broad range of energy policies, including energy tax incentives, appliance standards, building codes and standards, safe and responsible natural gas production, climate change, and appropriations. * Drafting and analyzing legislation, identifying potential impacts to AGA’s members. * Leading AGA’s effort outreach efforts to other organizations to gain their support for AGA priorities. * Building coalitions and expanding relationships with key decision-makers and policy makers. * Informing and coordinating and mobilizing member companies and other interested parties (coalitions) to pursue AGA’s goals. * Assisting in the development of AGA polices, positions and goals and execution of strategies to achieve those goals. * Working with the members of the Legislative Committee to develop and execute legislative and regulatory policy positions. * Serving as Staff Executive for the relevant task forces such as the Energy task force, under the Legislative Committee. * Taking a leading or supporting role on AGA issue teams that require legislative or regulatory activity. * Representing AGA at political fundraising events and organizing fundraising events for Federal candidates. Qualifications and Education Requirements * Lobbyist with at least 5 years of legislative, regulatory, lobbying or political experience. * Understanding of the workings of Congress and relevant congressional committees, federal regulatory agencies and departments, political fundraising and campaigns and public relations. * Contacts and relationships with members of congress, senior and junior congressional staff and administration officials. * A college degree is required; graduate degree or graduate course work is preferred About the company Get unlimited access to the talent market.
