SOMMELIER

About the Concept

This club is a modern conception of a classic English social club presented with a sophisticated, international elegance, luxury and an overlay of wit and whimsy that is a signature of both Palm Beach and English club style.

Position Summary: Sommelier

  • Providing high-caliber wine service while selling/serving wine, wine pairings, and other beverages to club guests.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Team to develop, maintain and refresh the current wine list.
  • Purchasing and inventories of all wine and spirits at the Club.
  • Provides engaging and attentive customer service to our members.
  • Develop and execute wine events to include exclusive wine dinners, tastings, and social wine events.
  • Ability to command a floor, prioritize, resolve unexpected issues and remain an effective leader.
  • Work jointly with the culinary team to establish appropriate wine pairing options that both compliment and enhance menu.
  • Genuine passion about food, wine, and hospitality.
  • Work with Training Supervisor to develop an ongoing staff wine and spirits education program.
  • Keep cellar and wine storage organized and well maintained.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must have computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office programs and related POS system.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be a detail-oriented individual and possess time management skills.
  • Able to work under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in determining potentially intoxicated members.

Education and experience

  • Certification in the court of Master Sommelier or Advanced WSET Level 3 preferred.
  • Previous fine-dining experience in the role of Sommelier preferred.
  • Complete knowledge of all classic wine regions and their winemaking styles.
  • Full varietal characteristic knowledge.
  • Certification in alcohol awareness program preferred.
  • Certification of C.P.R. is recommended.
  • Supervisory experience.
