Job Description

Safety Trainer Industrial & Food Safety

We are seeking a bilingual Safety Trainer (English/Spanish) to join our Human Resources team. This role focuses on educating employees across the plant including QA staff and production teams on food safety procedures, industrial safety practices, and compliance standards. Unlike a QA position, this role does not manage day-to-day food safety operations. Instead, it ensures employees are properly trained, understand protocols, and are prepared for audits and inspections.

Job Description As the Safety Trainer, you will design and deliver training programs on food safety, workplace safety, and compliance requirements. You'll conduct routine audits of training effectiveness, maintain accurate training records, and support HR's efforts to foster a safe and compliant workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, schedule, and deliver training programs on food safety, OSHA, GMPs, workplace safety, and compliance topics.
  • Conduct training sessions in both English and Spanish to ensure all employees fully understand requirements.
  • Train QA staff and plant employees on proper procedures, documentation, and safety standards.
  • Conduct internal audits of training and safety processes to identify gaps and recommend improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records of employee training and certifications for HR compliance.
  • Support HR and operations during third-party and regulatory audits by ensuring training compliance.
  • Provide refresher and corrective action training following incidents or audit findings.
  • Lead employee safety meetings, emphasizing accountability and a strong safety culture.
  • Update training materials and procedures to align with changing regulations and customer requirements.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 35 years in industrial safety training, HR compliance, or a related role within a food manufacturing/plant environment.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Occupational Safety, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Certifications (preferred): OSHA 30, HACCP, FSMA training, or other safety-related certifications.
  • Language Requirement: Fluent in Spanish and English (written and verbal) must be able to train in both languages.
  • Skills: Strong presentation, coaching, and communication skills. Ability to engage and motivate diverse employee groups. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
