Overview Research Assistant position at Brown University, Center for Alcohol & Addiction Studies. This is a fixed-term, full-time (37.5 hours per week) position with an end date of November 30, 2026, and may be extended based on available funding. This is an on-site (in-person) position located in Providence, RI. Responsibilities Participant recruitment, screening and data collection in a laboratory setting (50%). Data management (15%). Track, schedule, organize transport for and reschedule sessions during baseline and experimental phases for laboratory research (15%). Fund custodian (10%). Assist with other aspects of clinical research, including literature review (10%). Qualifications Education : Required — BA or BS in Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Psychology or related field. Experience : Research experience through academic training or work experience required. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills required. Ability to work independently is required. Flexibility in work schedule; may include evening hours. Must provide own transportation to research site. Knowledge of experimental research methodology; knowledge of clinical research procedures. Experience in an experimental laboratory setting or with a psychiatric population is preferred. Experience conducting structured clinical interviews of psychiatric disorders is preferred. Experience in programming online surveys (e.g., Qualtrics) is preferred. Experience managing databases is preferred. Coursework in addiction, substance abuse and/or psychopharmacology is preferred. Clinical experience in screening potential research participants is preferred. Experience working with medications is preferred. Ability to work independently and maturely is critical. Must be flexible with time to facilitate recruitment and maximize retention of study participants. Experience with managing biological samples (saliva, urine) is desired. Experience with alcohol dependent or psychiatric research participants is desired. Experience with alcohol- and opioid-related assessments (SCID, TLFB) is a plus. Some IRB and FDA experience is a plus. Phlebotomy skills and ability to perform EKGs are a plus.
