The Real Estate Services Appraiser will contact and consult for the Real Estate Valuation Services provided to the Commercial Division of the Bank. The incumbent will monitor all real estate appraisal requests for commercial banking. In addition, the Real Estate Services Appraiser will respond directly to the Relationship Managers and Vendor inquires to resolve issues surrounding real estate appraisals.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform real estate appraisals and/or support for real estate evaluations for lending decisions in accordance with loan policy requirements.
  • Provide appraisal reporting information for monthly.
  • Maintain the Bank's appraisal system in accordance loan policy requirements.
  • Provide appraisal and evaluation services to support lending decisions.
  • Perform real estate appraisals and/or support for real estate evaluations for ongoing collateral monitoring.
  • Perform real estate appraisal and/or support for real estate evaluation for work out and asset recovery.
  • Coordinate engagement and independent review for appraisal reports for compliance with regulatory requirements and commercial loan policy.
  • Maintain reporting information on the status of each appraisal associated with the commercial division (date of last appraisal, due date of next appraisal, etc…)
  • Maintain valuation information for real estate.
  • Provide preliminary valuation information to assist relationship managers with lending decisions.
  • Provide ongoing training to lending support staff on reviewing appraisals.
  • Provide ongoing guidance to ensure the Bank's appraisal process is in compliance federal regulation. 
  • Maintain the Bank's list of approved appraisers to ensure only the highest quality appraisers are performing valuations for the Bank.
  • Provide training opportunities to Real Estate Services Specialist interested in becoming licensed real estate appraisers.
  • Provide quarterly reporting information on the state of the real estate market to be utilized in reviewing the risk of commercial loan portfolios.
  • Maintain the Real Estate Appraisal Ordering Platform and offers critical feedback on the utilization of real estate software.
  • Provide budget information for the forecasting of appraisal related expenses and fee income generated by valuation services.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance/economics or the equivalent experience within the banking environment.
  • A minimum of 5 years of real estate appraising experience with the appropriate appraisal qualifications.
  • Must be a licensed Certified General Appraiser in either, New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, or Maryland. Must have a Designation; or be a Candidate for Designation would be a plus.
  • Must be able to prepare real estate appraisals and appraisal reviews in accordance with FIRREA and USPAP. Must be experienced reviewing and critiquing residential and commercial appraisals and be familiar with bank regulatory requirements for appraisals and evaluations.
  • Must have strong analytical and communication (interpersonal) skills.
  • Must be able to work independently with limited direction.
  • Knowledge bank lending requirements required. 
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Previous clerical, banking, or accounting experience is preferred.
  • Must have experience in customer service and ability to lead and contribute in meetings.
  • Must have the ability to efficiently manage large volume of real estate appraisals.
  • Must have experience performing and/or reviewing and appraisals required. 
  • Must be able to assist in supervising and/or train a Real Estate Services Valuation Specialist position or an assigned intern.
  • Some experience managing/supervising others is preferred.
  • Must have a good ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
