Description
This position reports to the Director of Nursing. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  1. Provide classroom instruction, clinical, and laboratory supervision for associate degree nursing students;
  2. Evaluate students enrolled in associate degree nursing programs;
  3. Advise associate degree nursing students;
  4. Update and revise the curriculum for associate degree nursing programs;
  5. Develop course syllabi for associate and bachelor's nursing programs each semester;
  6. Participate in ongoing nursing accreditation processes;
  7. Participate annually in an academic/professional process for continued personal and professional development;
  8. Actively participate in the institutional goals and objectives designed to support the mission of the college;
  9. Serve on college committees as assigned;
  10. Nothing in this document shall limit the President's ability to assign the employee to various college activities for which they are qualified to address the needs of New Mexico Junior College.

Qualifications


  • Minimum requirement of a Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) with the understanding that the candidate must be successfully enrolled in a nursing Master's degree program (MSN) within one year from the date of hire and complete that degree within five years.
  • Earned a graduate degree in nursing (MSN) is preferred . All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Candidates must have a minimum of two years of clinical experience and must obtain or have a current New Mexico or multi-state nursing license in good standing.
  • Prior successful teaching experience at the college level preferred.
  • Candidates should be able to work within a team-teaching concept.
  • Computer proficiency required with skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Canvas proficiency desirable.

  • Must promote and support the New Mexico Junior College Academic Success Center and the academic coaching it provides.
  • Must have openness with, and an interest in, the students in their classes.
  • Must design mechanisms to communicate frequently and often with students.
  • Must have a grasp of innovative delivery methods.
  • Must seek to meet or exceed the institutional, departmental, and course student learning outcomes.
  • Must be of sound character and committed to New Mexico Junior College.

This is a nine-month exempt position. Salary is based on the NMJC faculty salary schedule, commensurate with education and teaching experience. Annual salary includes a Body of Work stipend of $25,000. Standard NMJC benefits apply

NMJC has entered into a partnership with Nor Lea Hospital to operate the Thunderbird Health Center, ensuring that high-quality healthcare services will be readily accessible to the campus community. The Thunderbird Health Center is available at no cost to NMJC students, faculty, and staff. Participants will not need insurance to access limited primary-care services at the Thunderbird Health Center.


Annual CORE (Center Of Recreational Excellence) Corporate Membership is for full-time employees and their eligible family members.


- NMJC offers a campus Wellness Program to promote individual wellness among members of the campus community through education and prevention. This program requires full-time employees to take ONE (1) hour each week from work to participate in physical activity. To sign up for this program, you must complete the NMJC Wellness Program Participation form and turn it in to the Human Resources Office.

Staff Tuition Waiver - A full-time employee of NMJC, their spouse, and eligible children are entitled to a total of nine (9) credit hours of tuition-free credit courses per semester, including course fees. In addition, a full-time employee of NMJC, their spouse, and eligible children can take (1) community education course/offering at no cost per semester, provided (i) NMJC employed the full-time employee as of the date of registration for such class or classes and (ii) the minimum number of paid enrollees has been attained to offer the class.
