Description Position Summary The Patient Transporter supports the patient care team by performing duties related to environmental light custodial maintenance and transporting patients, charts, specimens, equipment; and stocking day-to-day supplies and clean and soiled linen efficiently throughout the hospital complex. Performs routine and nonprofessional duties such as providing patient transportation in the caring for patients. Greets patients upon arrival. May assist patient with wheelchair needs to and from their transportation. Provides general non-medical information (such as parking, driving directions, food available in the local area, etc.) to patients and guests.
Essential Job Functions/Accountabilities Transports patients between nursing units, diagnostic areas, doctors' suites, and other areas of the hospital as directed, to include lifting and assisting patients from beds to wheelchairs/stretchers and back as may be required; Assists with patient transfers and discharges, including removal of equipment from patient rooms after discharge; Creates a comfortable environment for patients and makes them feel at ease; Provides emotional support to patients and their families by listening to them and showing compassion and understanding; Provides ice packs as requested or needed.
Performs sitter duties: maintains visual observation of the patient. Never leaves the patient alone or out of sight unless specifically instructed by the nurse. Assists with orientation of new employees as requested. Assists with other duties as assigned.
Transports blood and other specimens on both a STAT and routine basis. Transports soiled linen to E.C.I. blow-over station and send clean and soiled to laundry sorting area. Delivers patient equipment, various supply items, audio visual equipment, and exchange various gas tanks. Prioritizes work and makes changes as situations warrant. Handles all work related information in a confidential manner; Follows appropriate PPE guidelines. Understands and follows exposure protocols.
Participates in the patient care team to achieve CCOC's mission and purpose; consistently promotes customer satisfaction through positive behaviors when interacting with patients, visitors and fellow staff members; Shares ideas for Improvement / revision of policies / procedures which would enhance the work environment and overall operations.

Position Requirements Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience: Previous experience preferred.
Technical Skills: Demonstrates alertness, flexibility, and ability to work with other employees. Proven ability to read and write English, follow written and oral instructions. Perform basic mathematical functions.
Certifications/Licenses/Registrations: BLS required within six months of hire
Requirements Schedule: Variable 10AM-6PM Status: Part-Time 24 hours per week
