Position Details

Tecumseh Public Schools is seeking a passionate and dynamic Middle School Music Teacher to join Tecumseh Middle School’s music department. The ideal candidate will inspire students through engaging instruction to nurture creativity, musicality, and appreciation for the performing arts.

General Information/Duties:

• Plan, deliver, and assess instruction consistent with music curriculum
• Provide a variety of learning methods and resources to engage students in educational activities and lessons
• Continuously monitor and evaluate student outcomes through informal and formative assessments
• Effectively and consistently communicate and interact with students, parents, staff, and the community
• Be a team player; working with other members to improve techniques, relations with the community, and school environment
• Committed to continuous improvement through training and the use of technology.
• Participate in district-wide professional development
• Perform other duties consistent within the scope of the position
• Attend all mandatory staff meetings, events, or trainings
• Other duties as assigned by the building Principal

Qualifications:

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, major or minor in Music
• Valid Michigan teaching certificate with JX or JQ endorsement
• Demonstrated skills in the use of technology
• Ability and willingness to work in a team setting
• Knowledge of the academic, social, and emotional needs of elementary age students
• High moral character, integrity, and strong interpersonal communication skills
• Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day with frequent, prolonged standing/walking/sitting
• Must be able to read and speak English
• Must be able to see, hear, and move intermittently or use prosthetics that will enable you to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met
