About the Role: The Meter Reader plays a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely collection of utility usage data, which directly impacts billing and customer satisfaction. This position involves visiting residential and commercial properties to read electric power meters, requiring attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols. The Meter Reader must demonstrate professionalism and ethical behavior while interacting with customers and representing the company. This role demands physical stamina to climb ladders and navigate various terrains safely, as well as the ability to operate computers and related technology for data entry and reporting. Ultimately, the Meter Reader contributes to the efficient operation of utility services by providing reliable data that supports customer commitment and operational excellence. Minimum Qualifications: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and climb ladders. Basic computer skills to operate handheld devices and enter data accurately. Demonstrated commitment to professionalism and ethical behavior in the workplace. Physical ability to perform outdoor work in various weather conditions. Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in meter reading or a related utility field. Familiarity with electric power systems and safety standards. Customer service experience demonstrating strong communication skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime when necessary. Certification or training in workplace safety or utility operations. Responsibilities: Accurately read and record electric power meter data from residential and commercial locations. Operate company vehicles safely while traveling to assigned meter reading locations. Use handheld computers or other electronic devices to input meter readings and report discrepancies. Climb ladders and access difficult-to-reach meters while adhering to all safety guidelines. Maintain professional and ethical interactions with customers and coworkers, promoting fairness and respect. Work overtime as needed to meet deadlines and ensure timely data collection. Report any meter malfunctions, safety hazards, or customer concerns to the appropriate department.
