Job Description We are seeking a skilled and motivated
Mechanical HVAC Engineer to join our growing team, specializing in the design and implementation of HVAC systems for
commercial, light and heavy industry projects across
Alabama, Florida and Georgia . The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, project coordination skills, and a deep understanding of HVAC systems, energy codes, and building standards relevant to the Southeast region.
Key Responsibilities: - Design HVAC systems (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) for commercial, light and heavy industrial facilities using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Carrier HAP/Trane TRACE).
- Perform load calculations, equipment selection, ductwork and piping layout , and system specifications in compliance with local codes (Florida Building Code, Alabama Building Code, Georgia Building code ASHRAE, etc.).
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to develop construction documents and coordinate design details.
- Conduct site visits , surveys, and assessments to evaluate existing systems and verify design feasibility.
- Participate in project management activities , including budget tracking, client communications, and construction administration support.
- Ensure all designs meet applicable sustainability, energy efficiency, and safety standards .
- Provide engineering support during bidding, permitting, and construction phases , including responding to RFIs and reviewing submittals.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Minimum 3-5 years+ of HVAC design experience in commercial and/or light/heavy industrial projects .
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and HVAC design software (e.g., Carrier HAP, Trane TRACE).
- Working knowledge of mechanical codes, ASHRAE standards , and local/state building codes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Minimal Travel (as needed) to brownfield and greenfield job sites.
Preferred Qualifications - LEED accreditation or experience with energy-efficient/sustainable design .
- Experience with Design-Build or fast-track project delivery .
- Familiarity with construction administration processes , including punch lists and commissioning support
Must be able to work in Jacksonville, FL or Dothan, AL
Salary up to $150K +/- depending on experience
