Segra is searching for a dynamic and experienced Junior Database Administrator .

Role Overview:

The Database Engineer I will provide Database Administration resources across multiple departments. They will be responsible for creating, executing, and documenting processes. They will craft guidelines that will manage the access, data integrity, and security of the databases that support the most critical systems within the company. The Database Engineer I will monitor database performance, implement changes, and apply new patches and versions when required.

Qualifications

Required:

• Must have an associate or bachelors degree in computer science, Information Systems, Information Security, or equivalent experience (1+ year of DBA or database experience).
• Must have knowledge of either SQL Server (preferred) or Oracle.

Preferred:

• 1-2 years understanding of various database protocols including SQL Server and Oracle, and a strong familiarity with Microsoft products including Office, Bash, PowerShell, and other desktop applications.
• 1-2 years experience in Windows and Linux server management and application support in a corporate environment.
• 2 plus years' experience monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining database systems.
• Oracle SQL Developer, SSMS, SSIS, SSRS, and other database management tools.
• Windows and Linux Server operating system administration.
• Understanding database backup strategies including RMAN and Windows backup.
• Basic knowledge of various scripting protocols including PowerShell and Bash.
• Tier-1 ability to debug code.
• Understanding of mid-tier security concerns for networks, user access, and applications.
• Self-motivated and driven to improve professionally and technically.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills.
• Ability to perform all duties with a high level of accuracy.
• Certifications preferred but not required. Oracle Database Administrator, Azure or AWS fundamentals or higher, Linux+, Security+ or other related certifications.
