The Driver Manager will be responsible for overseeing the performance, safety, and operational efficiency of the car hauling fleet. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills to ensure that drivers meet performance targets while adhering to all safety and regulatory requirements. The Driver Manager will also be tasked with driver recruitment, training, and performance evaluation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Driver Supervision & Support:
    • Manage a team of drivers, ensuring they adhere to company policies, safety regulations, and client expectations.
    • Provide ongoing support and training to drivers, including safety procedures, best practices, and customer service standards.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and implement improvement plans as needed.
  • Scheduling & Dispatching:
    • Oversee driver schedules to ensure timely delivery of vehicles, optimize routes, and manage delivery timelines.
    • Collaborate with dispatchers to ensure efficient use of drivers and vehicles.
    • Resolve scheduling conflicts and ensure all trips are covered without compromising service levels.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Ensure that all drivers are compliant with federal, state, and local regulations (DOT, ELD, etc.).
    • Conduct safety training and workshops to minimize accidents and violations.
    • Monitor driver logs to ensure compliance with hours of service and vehicle inspections.
  • Driver Recruitment & Retention:
    • Assist in the recruitment and hiring of new drivers to meet business needs.
    • Retain and motivate top-performing drivers through incentives, recognition, and career development opportunities.
    • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment to improve driver satisfaction and reduce turnover.
  • Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
    • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) for the drivers, such as on-time delivery, fuel efficiency, and customer feedback.
    • Prepare regular reports on driver performance, accidents/incidents, and other key metrics.
    • Work closely with senior management to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to drive efficiency.
  • Customer Relations:
    • Ensure drivers maintain high standards of customer service when interacting with clients during vehicle pick-ups and deliveries.
    • Address any customer complaints or issues related to driver performance or service.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in managing drivers in the transportation or logistics industry, preferably in car hauling or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of DOT regulations, safety standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
  • Experience with dispatch software, route optimization tools, and fleet management systems.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, especially in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • High school diploma required; a degree in business, logistics, or a related field is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
