Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Eligibility Specialist to join our team. As an Eligibility Specialist, you will play a crucial role in verifying insurance coverage and ensuring accurate eligibility determinations. This position requires strong knowledge of medical office procedures, coding, and insurance verification.
AUTHORIZATION AND SCHEDULING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Duties:
- Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for patients
- Review and interpret medical records and documentation
- Ensure accurate coding of diagnoses and procedures using ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes
- Collaborate with medical office staff to gather necessary information for eligibility determination
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations when handling patient information
- Communicate with insurance companies to resolve any discrepancies or issues with coverage
- Assist patients in understanding their insurance benefits and coverage limitations
- Update patient records with accurate insurance information
- Provide support to the billing department as needed
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Eligibility Specialist or similar role in a medical office setting
- Strong knowledge of medical office procedures, including insurance verification and managed care processes
- Proficiency in using ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes for accurate coding purposes
- Familiarity with office procedures
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with patients, insurance companies, and medical staff
