Title: Industrial HVAC Engineer
Reports to: Manager, Energy Engineer Location: Lansing, MI LG Energy Solution Michigan Inc. (LGESMI) develops and manufactures large lithium ion polymer batteries and packs for electric vehicle (EV) and energy storage applications. Come join the leader in advanced EV batteries!
Summary: This position is responsible for installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial grade HVAC equipment and systems.
Responsibilities: - Maintain HVAC systems including the equipment, duct work, clean/dry room equipment and maintaining process supporting equipment such as dust collectors, activated carbon filters, hot oil boilers, regenerative thermal oxidizers, chillers, boilers, AHU's, DHU's, RTU's BCU's etc.
- Understand the equipment programming and be able to alter temperatures and simple programming
- Coordinate with outside sources to schedule maintenance for more complex issues
- Monitor HVAC and room conditions for optimal production
- Provides expertise for non-routine HVAC jobs
- Provide support to the Facilities Engineering team with projects
- Provide mentoring and training to other technicians
- Contact manufacturers to perform warranty work on the equipment
- Be responsible for properly maintaining areas with Clean and Dry Room ratings
- Maintains proficiency with the Building Management System (BMS) and makes recommendations to the Maintenance Supervisor on upgrades to maintain efficient operations
- Report to the Mechanical Engineer on mechanical equipment issues
- Convey building characteristics and existing mechanical systems and capabilities strategize effective start and stop optimization of equipment
- Works with other maintenance workers/staff to resolve maintenance problems and coordinates services
- Serve as liaison with vendors
- Coordinate inventory and ordering of parts, tools, materials for routine projects and to maintain stock
- Ensure work is completed in a safe manner and maintain a safe work environment
- Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards:
- Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain
- Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container
- Follow LGESMI existing cleaning SOP's during downtime (e.g. line stop, waiting time, etc.), which includes cleaning your designated machine and/or surrounding work area
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications: - High School Diploma or GED required
- Vocational Certificate (HVAC) or Associates Degree preferred or equivalent, relevant experience
Experience: - Minimum of 3 to 5+ years of related work experience

- Considerable knowledge of the installation and repair of a wide variety of HVAC and control systems.
- Advanced troubleshooting and repair skills with chillers (centrifugal, screw and reciprocating), boilers and all types of control systems
- Ability to analyze entire building needs i.e. (heat loss, heat loads, and solar gains) and existing HVAC conditions to identify systemic or engineering issues
- Demonstrated ability to comprehend building plans, wiring, diagrams and schematics
- Experience in the installation and termination of CAT 5 enhanced data cabling following TIA/EIA 568B standards and be able to troubleshoot network conductivity with HVAC networkable controls
- Considerable knowledge of tools and techniques used in maintenance and repair of large buildings
- Ability to read and interpret building drawings and specifications
