Industrial Designer – Outdoor Gear

Location: Greater Kansas City Area (Full-Time)

We're looking for a full-time Industrial Designer specializing in Softgoods for Camping and Outdoor Gear to join our team in the greater Kansas City area. In this role, you’ll help create innovative, high-quality outdoor products for a leading brand in the industry. As part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary design team, you’ll contribute to the development of a wide range of camping essentials—including tents, sleeping bags, backpacks, camping furniture, coolers, headlamps, lanterns, flashlights, and more.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

• 0–4 years of relevant experience
• Primary focus on softgoods design and development, including trend analysis, CMF (Color, Material, Finish) design, and pattern generation.
• Strong aesthetic sensibility and creative problem-solving skills
• Ability to generate a wide range of compelling design solutions through sketching, rendering, and digital tools.
• Excellent concept development with the ability to communicate the strategy behind your designs
• Solid understanding of global design trends and color theory
• Strong visualization and communication skills
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for bringing fresh ideas to the table
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design or equivalent

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience designing durable goods for the outdoor industry
• Experience creating 2D CAD / Technical drawings for softgoods
• Experience with Adobe Illustrator
• Basic skills in KeyShot or similar rendering programs
• Familiarity with 3D modeling tools like SolidWorks
• Passion for the outdoors and an active lifestyle
