Job Description
What You Will Do Reporting to the Wellness Center Team Leader, this position provides preventive and rehabilitative institutional occupational safety and health services and programming, including, but not limited to, institutional wellness motivational programs, health and safety education classes and events, injury prevention training, surveillance medical programming, wellness facility operations and programming, and satellite wellness facilities operations.
This position provides exceptional customer service, technical skills, and knowledge in support of the Fire Department Medical Fitness Program, supporting health and fitness services, in addition to the supervision of the Wellness Center Facility.
What You Need Minimum Job Requirements: - Knowledge of National Fire Protection Association 1580, Standard for Emergency Responder Occupational Health and Wellness.
- Intermediate Knowledge of Fitness Testing and Screening.
- Intermediate knowledge of health, fitness, nutrition, and injury prevention principles.
- Intermediate knowledge and experience in one-on-one and small group exercise training.
- Ability to foster exceptional customer service with member interactions through group exercise classes, health & fitness consultations, and facility coverage duties.
- Intermediate knowledge of and experience with health and fitness, patient advocacy, and occupational health issues including protection of patient health information.
- Intermediate knowledge of occupational health and safety practices.
- Ability to foster a high-level of operational excellence for supervision of the Wellness Center facility.
Training/Certifications: Current health and/or fitness certifications by a nationally accredited agency in Health, Fitness, and/or Wellness through (ACSM, NSCA, NASM, ACE, AFFA) or in the process of obtaining.
Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications: - Knowledge of and experience with provision of health promotion, preventive medicine, and health education initiatives.
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer use, office software, and web interfaces.
- Strong customer focus with ability to interact, communicate and influence a large cross section of colleagues, customers, and stakeholders.
- Current certification in First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS).
Essential Job Functions (can perform with or without reasonable accommodation): Ability to lift, push, pull up to 25 lbs.
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position Commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
