This role is located in New York City and will require a hybrid work schedule of at least 2 days in office per week.

This role is posted for Officer level candidates, based on experience, candidates could be considered for an Assistant Officer level as well.

Department Overview:

The Americas Division (“AD”) was established in the Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Limited, New York Branch) (“SMTBNY”) to perform corporate functions and supervise U.S. entities.

Established under the AD are the “Global Banking Unit (“GBU”), Americas Division” and “Global Market Unit (“GMU”), Americas Division” which performs business functions. The Japanese Corporate Finance Department (“JCF”) responsible for the booking and administering of Japanese corporate assets in accordance with the Branch’s lending policy.

Your Role Overview:

Provides administrative and basic analysis support for the Relationship Managers.

Your Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Analyzes financial data and creates financial reports and models for credit application decision support for assigned products.
  2. Incorporates Head Office and Branch investment guideline compliance in financial analysis.
  3. Performs quality assurance for assigned products by regularly monitoring financial performance key indicators.
  4. Assists Relationship Managers in business development, deal structuring, prepares credit applications, self-assessment, account review, and other administrative requirements as assigned.
  5. Work with the Head of Department to ensure that the work of the RMA runs smoothly.
  6. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Your Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business or economics.
  2. Bilingual oral and written skills on a business level in both English and Japanese.
  3. Good knowledge of finance and basic accounting.
  4. Good knowledge of commonly used research resources, including Bloomberg, EDGAR, and rating agencies.
  5. Basic knowledge of corporate finance transactions and loan markets.
  6. Advanced in Microsoft 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Access)and some modeling capabilities.
  7. Excellent oral and written communication skills in Japanese and English.
