Facilities Custodian

$18-20/hr

Job Summary:

The Facilities Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment across building interiors and exterior grounds. This role involves performing a variety of routine cleaning and minor maintenance tasks to support the daily operations of the facility. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, follows safety standards, and works well independently or as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Sweep, mop, scrub, and wax floors to maintain cleanliness
• Empty and sanitize trash and recycling receptacles
• Clean, sanitize, and restock restrooms
• Clean and maintain custodial tools and equipment as needed
• Perform minor repairs on furniture, buildings, and equipment
• Report any safety, sanitary, or fire hazards to appropriate personnel
• Lock and unlock windows, doors, and gates as required
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of exterior grounds and entryways

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Previous custodial and groundskeeping experience preferred
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
• Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Comfortable with physical tasks including squatting, bending, twisting, and kneeling
• Basic knowledge of custodial tools, materials, and maintenance techniques
• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights safely
• Familiar with proper storage and care of custodial supplies and equipment

Work Environment:

This position involves routine exposure to cleaning chemicals, equipment noise, and physical exertion. The role may require work during early mornings, evenings, or weekends depending on facility needs.
