About the Role
The Company is seeking an Executive Director of Strategic Volunteer Initiatives to spearhead the development and execution of a comprehensive strategy that will elevate volunteer leadership and instill a strong culture of philanthropy across the university. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and aligning service and engagement opportunities that ensure volunteers play a pivotal role in the achievement of the university's philanthropic goals. This senior role demands a professional with a proven track record in strategic planning and volunteer engagement, particularly within the context of a public land-grant university. The Executive Director will work closely with the Chief of Staff for Advancement, the Senior Vice President, and other members of the leadership team to foster collaboration with various university stakeholders and to maintain a clear vision for integrating volunteer leaders with the institution's strategic priorities. Applicants for this position must demonstrate extensive experience in Advancement, including alumni volunteer relations, higher education administration, donor relations, and fundraising. Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to manage change within a university setting. The role requires a candidate with a human-centered approach, capable of building and maintaining long-term relationships, and a commitment to recruiting and empowering volunteer leadership, with a focus on diversity and inclusion. A Master's degree in a related field is preferred, although a Bachelor's degree with significant experience will be considered. The Executive Director will also be responsible for overseeing a team that handles the full volunteer lifecycle, from recruitment to evaluation, and must be adept at maintaining a broad institutional perspective.
