Position Title: Estate Planning & Tax Attorney

The client is a distinguished boutique law firm specializing in sophisticated business, tax, and estate planning. Recognized nationally, the firm serves affluent families, family offices, privately held businesses, and non-profits, with deep expertise in trusts, estates, and domestic/international taxation

Position Overview

Reporting to the Chair of the Advanced Planning & Family Office group, the Attorney will handle estate planning, wealth transfer, and tax structuring for high-net-worth individuals and business clients, working on a hybrid schedule at the Chicago office and remotely.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement estate, gift, income, and transfer tax planning for individuals, families, and closely-held businesses
• Draft advanced estate planning instruments (e.g., irrevocable trusts, charitable trusts, family office structures)
• Advise fiduciaries on trust/estate administration and settlement matters
• Collaborate on tax compliance, entity planning, charitable vehicles, and family office arrangements.
• Conduct legal research, draft memos, and support client-facing meetings
• Play an active role in firm initiatives: bar committees, continuing education, pro bono work, and publications.

Qualifications

• JD degree from an accredited law school; LL.M. in Taxation or CPA preferred
• Admission to the Illinois Bar required
• 2+ years of experience in estate planning, tax law, and/or trusts & estates at a law firm
