Drug & Alcohol Test Coordinator (Security Specialist 2) Join to apply for the Drug & Alcohol Test Coordinator (Security Specialist 2) role at Los Alamos National Laboratory What You Will Do As a vital member of the Personnel Assurance group, reporting to the Substance Abuse Team Leader, you will serve as a critical function for the laboratory’s Workplace Substance Abuse Program. Your primary job will be to coordinate drug and/or alcohol tests via telephone, while supporting the laboratory’s need to manage access authorization and HRP certification for employees. You will use various databases to complete required steps, ensuring that workers obtain and maintain the necessary clearance from the Department of Energy. Your responsibilities include: Coordinating drug and alcohol testing schedules for laboratory personnel. Communicating with employees to schedule and confirm testing appointments. Maintaining accurate records of testing results and related documentation. Collaborating with multiple teams in a fast‑paced environment to resolve scheduling conflicts. Ensuring confidentiality and protection of personally identifiable information (PII) while working with classified information. Providing professional customer service under pressure from multiple deadlines, frequent interruptions, and changing priorities. What You Need Minimum Job Requirements Demonstrated experience coordinating schedules and calendar management. Demonstrated experience and skill in researching alternatives, investigating problems, and recommending solutions on matters affecting security and safeguards. Proven competence to provide professional customer service while under pressure of multiple deadlines, frequent interruptions, and changing priorities. Ability to effectively prioritize assigned tasks and assume responsibility for completing the work. Experience working with high volumes of customers, with great attention to detail and the protection of PII as part of a team and independently. Ability to effectively interface and integrate at all levels, with broad knowledge of the laboratory mission, organizations, programs, policies, and procedures. Education/Experience Position requires a bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or Security‑related field and 2 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Desired Qualifications Excellent organizational skills for project planning, execution, and management. Demonstrated experience participating in audits and self‑assessments. Previous experience performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature with frequent interruptions and/or distractions. Knowledge of the laboratory’s security and safeguards policies, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of the laboratory’s computer and information security policies, practices, and procedures. Active Q clearance. Work Environment This position will be onsite in Los Alamos; however, you may be required to work in Santa Fe as needed. Position Commitment Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in one position to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the laboratory. The required commitment for this position is 1 year. Receipt of a Q clearance is ultimately a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad. New‑Employment Drug Test The laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new‑employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized marijuana, use and possession remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre‑offer. Regular Position Laboratory employees applying for regular‑status positions are converted to regular status. Internal Applicants Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the laboratory.
