As a Registered Clinical Dietitian, I am responsible for assessing patient nutritional needs, providing ongoing care, and delivering nutrition education to patients and staff. I collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes and must maintain registration and licensure while staying current with ongoing education. My role is vital to enhancing the health and well-being of patients within the acute care setting of the Norman Regional Health System.

Education
Required: Any program approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics that leads to registration as a Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist (RD/RDN). Basic knowledge of subspecialty area (including nutrition support, diabetes, cardiology, renal, oncology, etc.) Must obtain approximately 15 hours of continuing education credits per calendar year. Keep current of new findings/research.
Experience
Preferred: Six months of clinical experience in an acute care facility preferred.
Licensure/Certification
Required: Registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and an Oklahoma State Dietitian license must be achieved within the first 6 months of employment. Must obtain a food handler's permit from the Cleveland County Health department before hire (or within 1 week of hire). Completion of general and patient care orientation is required prior to providing patient care.
Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Required: Must be able to use decision making skills to make rational & quick decisions regarding prioritizing of patient care. Have the foresight to recognize unsafe work conditions and/or practices. The ability to safely use chemicals and equipment for the patients, visitors and staff. Knowledge base for use of different formula's when assessing patient's nutritional needs.
