About The Position
The culinary intern will assist the culinary team in various aspects of food preparation, cooking, and service. In addition to the production role the culinary intern will also work with our culinary instructor, a CIA grad from Hyde Park New York and a 20 year industry veteran in the research and development position.
Assist in the preparation of ingredients, including measuring, cutting, and chopping.
Help with the cooking and presentation of dishes under the direction of the executive chef or sous chef.
Assist with plating and garnishing dishes.
Assist with maintaining kitchen cleanliness, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and taking out trash.
Learn about food safety and sanitation practices and apply them in the kitchen.
Participate in menu planning and recipe development under the guidance of the culinary team.
Attend and participate in culinary events, such as tastings and cooking demonstrations.
Help with inventory management and food ordering.
Other duties as assigned.
Culinary Intern Qualifications
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a culinary program or related field.
Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and culinary terminology.
Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Availability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
Culinary Intern Compensation
The salary for a culinary intern includes hourly pay, and in some cases a stipend or college credits depending on your campus.
