Construction Design Engineer is responsible for all design functions, developing, prototype research and execution, lead R &D, Performing complex analysis, providing recommendations to improve efficiency and quality control while coordinating product, processes, and techniques with his or her team and project.

Essential Functions:

• Develop specifications for new parts or prototypes.
• Identifies appropriate materials and processes to ensure the quality, performance, and manufacturability of products.
• Uses CAD software and other design and modeling tools to develop and improve parts and products.
• Conducts analysis and tests to determine weaknesses and failures in prototypes or products. Special projects or work as assigned.
• Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
• Ensure compliance in all safety, health, and environmental regulations, policies and procedures for a goal of zero incidents and injuries.
• Identifying problems: Identifying complex problems and anticipating production issues. Conducting root-cause failure analyses.
• Evaluating options: Evaluating options and determining which ideas can be developed further, continuous improvement.
• Testing: Conducting tests to validate designs, R&D and matrix.
• Implementing solutions: Implementing solutions to meet targets for timing, cost, and reliability

Qualifications Guidelines

Software: AutoCAD Revit and/or Autodesk Inventor

Experience/Training/Education:

Required: Requires a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with 4-6 years of CONSTRUCTION or correlative design work experience.

• Ideal Candidate has completed extensive construction design work.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Decision Making:

Makes decisions promptly and accurately based on sound reasoning. Effectively builds a case for the decision based on accurate data and a thorough understanding. Will stand behind a decision even though the solution may be unpopular.

Initiative:

Starts well. Often seeks out new projects or assignments. Carries on well with projects. Quickly zeroes in on the critical few points and puts the others aside.

Makes complex ideas or situations clear, simple and/or understandable. Assembles ideas, issues, and observations into a clear and useful explanation. Demonstrates the application of identified trends to dis-similar process units for business improvement. Restates existing observations or knowledge in a simpler fashion.

Analytical Thinking:

• Understands the appropriate amount of analysis required for a decision or path forward. Can consistently influence others with analytical thinking. Breaks down a very complex assignment into smaller, logical pieces. Can process/organize large volumes of data into useful information/results.
