Salary:

The Montrose Center is seeking a dynamic, organized, and personable new team member to coordinate community engagement activities. This position will perform a variety of tasks including recruiting, training, managing, and appreciating all Center volunteers, leading community outreach efforts, and coordinating staff involvement at community events.

This position requires self-motivation and the ability to work independently while coordinating and playing a role on the larger Community Center team. Creativity and a high degree of accountability in meeting mutually agreed deadlines are necessary

Responsibilities

  1. Contact volunteer applicants, assess interest, inform of opportunities, schedule/complete interviews/orientations/screenings, supervise, and follow up with volunteers as their advocate within the organization. Maintain and manage all volunteer onboarding processes, and review/update processes as needed.
  2. Identify, train, and work with Lead Volunteers (volunteers who are designated as lead and supervise other volunteers, lead classes, or trainings) to help manage the volunteer program as needed.
  3. Coordinate agency volunteer needs with staff (including special events, building projects, and program needs); supervise volunteers at annual special events and on staff projects, as needed.
  4. Manage peer-led supported groups, including recruitment, orientation, and training of volunteer wellness class leaders/facilitators, management of class schedules, and class promotions/advertisements.
  5. Plan and/or assist in the planning of Center community-building events, such as rallies, cultural/ arts events, open houses, etc.
  6. Coordinate and lead volunteer committees, as needed, such as Senior Volunteer Activities Committee, etc.
  7. Track volunteer information and submit all volunteer reports on time, including monthly reports to Finance and the supervisor, quarterly reports, and other reports as requested.
  8. Maintain and upgrade all volunteer technology and files, including inputting volunteer information into the development database (SalesForce).
  9. Plan and execute annual Volunteer Appreciation efforts on or around National Volunteer Appreciation Week (April) and plan other volunteer appreciation activities throughout the year.
  10. Collect feedback from agency volunteers (inactive and active) to conduct critical analysis of volunteer management program processes (survey, phone calls, etc.).
  11. Create, develop, and oversee the Community Engagement and Volunteer Management Plans annually, including a list of all large community outreach events, volunteer events, new volunteer initiatives, and goals for the year.
  12. Encourage volunteers to support the Center through donations, events, and other fundraising efforts.
  13. Recruit and supervise volunteer contractors, and volunteer interns.
  14. Lead community outreach efforts to build relationships with local organizations, businesses, and community leaders to support the Centers mission and expand community engagement.
  15. Coordinate the presence of internal staff at community outreach events, ensuring representation aligns with the Center's mission and provides meaningful engagement opportunities.
  16. Be available for special projects on holidays, evenings, natural disasters, public health crises, and weekends when necessary.
  17. Collaborate closely with the Marketing and Communications Department and the Development Department to ensure coordination and collaboration on all events and volunteer activities.
  18. Participate in other projects, as assigned by the supervisor.

Education, Training, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  1. Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent 5 years of relevant experience.
  2. Experience in volunteer management preferred.
  3. Computer literate in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of SalesForce and Galaxy software or equivalent is desirable.
  4. Complete required orientations and trainings within the defined schedule.
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Bi-lingual English/Spanish candidates are highly encouraged to apply.
  6. Demonstrated cultural fluency in LGBTQ+ issues, including the ability to work effectively and sensitively with all parts of the intersectional LGBTQ+ community, respecting and embracing diverse identities, backgrounds, and experience
  7. Able to work independently and meet deadlines. As well as the ability to work in a team environment, assisting and calling on team members as necessary.
  8. Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and adapt to change.
  9. Valid Drivers license and auto liability insurance as required by law.
