Overview to our opportunity
We are looking for a highly motivated and driven Business Development Manager capable of successfully driving profitable growth across the hermetic and ceramic markets.
The suitable candidate will be expected to quickly develop applications focused knowledge to enable a solution sales-based approach in a business-to-business sales environment.
The role will be targeting opportunities in the western part of North America and into Mexico. There is an expectation the successful candidate will travel regularly to meet with customers. When not travelling to meet customers, the successful candidate will be visiting our facilities in UK and Germany as well as our NA plant in Laurens, South Carolina or working from their home office.
Key duties of the position include :
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities to maximize both revenue and profit growth.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers, OEMs, and industry stakeholders.
• Lead the sales cycle from prospecting to closing.
• Coordinate activities with Inside Sales and Customer Service to ensure seamless service to the existing customer base.
• Identify and evaluate new market segments and applications for ceramic and hermetic products.
• Conduct market research and competitive analysis to inform strategic planning.
• Gather market data and build relationships at industry conferences in target markets.
• Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to align customer needs with technical capabilities.
• Develop and execute go-to-market strategies for new products and applications.
• Meet or exceed sales targets for new business development.
• Maintain a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities.
• Work closely with engineering, operations, and quality to ensure customer satisfaction and successful project execution.
• Provide feedback on market trends and customer requirements to support product innovation.
Target Candidate Background
• Ideally possess a technical education to degree level or equivalent, for example materials science, mechanical or electronic engineering.
• Target candidates with 7+ years post graduate experience in Business Development.
• Ideally possess a structured sales trained background.
• Demonstrate previous experience selling technical products within the ceramics market.
• Have the ability to travel regularly, predominately across North America. Able to travel to Europe and Asia as required.
• Demonstrate strong customer focus in previous sales roles and have good commercial awareness.
• Proven track record of building strong relationships with customers and across a range of internal stakeholders.
• Ideally demonstrate working experience of Salesforce CRM.
