Summary of Functions

To insure professional execution for NQC client’s banquets, meetings and functions of all types and sizes in all areas. Responsible for high level of guest satisfaction, superior service, and the delivery of a high quality product.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures compliance with the Kalispel Tribe of Indians- Internal Controls, and Northern Quest Policies and Procedures.
  • Review the client’s needs or special requests, in order to deliver a flawless performance, while maintaining very high standards.
  • Must be able to execute multiple tasks at the same time, while staying focused and organized.
  • Attend the weekly BEO meeting in the manager’s or supervisor’s absence.
  • Coordinate special arrangements and needs with the appropriate departments for the operation.
  • Assist banquet Team Members (Servers, Bartenders, Set-up Porters, Cocktail Servers and Ushers, and Beverage Porters) to ensure superior guest service.
  • Knowledge of food and wine for training service.
  • Make set-up and teardown assignments for the servers and bussers
  • Help organize clearing stations and BOH.
  • Assign pre and post function side, clearing and clean up duties to the service staff.
  • Work along with the Culinary Team, in the setting of buffet tables and other food displays.
  • Inspect the overall ambiance of the room to meet the need of the client.
  • Make certain that the tables are set according to NQC standards and the requirement of the function and the client.
  • In the absence of a supervisor or manager, meet and greet clients at the beginning of their function and communicate with them through the duration of their event.
  • In the absence of a supervisor or manager, present guests with their billing or charges at the end of function and collect for incurred charges and follow accounting procedures for all functions for your respective shift.
  • Keep storage areas clean and organized. Make sure that equipment is cleaned properly and stored securely.
  • Follows NQC procedures for “Room Control” pertaining to guest conduct and alcohol use.
  • Represent Northern Quest in a professional, effective and courteous manner at all times.
  • Ensure control/protection of company assets.
  • Available and willing to work any changes in hours deemed necessary for business levels .
  • Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular good attendance record.
  • May be required to be a panelist for Internal Review Hearings.
  • Ensures the highest possible standards of guest satisfaction and Team Member relations are maintained and carried out in a fair and equitable manner in an environment conducive to that goal.

Education

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Experience

  • A minimum of 1 year leadership experience in a large banquet or catering operation, or 3 years experience as a lead or trainer in a large full service restaurant & bar operation.

Skills

  • Must be computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft programs and other computer software.
  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data and basic arithmetic functions.
  • Ability to design and implement structured thought.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by team members and guests.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with department head and employees.
  • Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Tribal Gaming License.
  • Valid driver’s license (Must be in possession while operating a Tribal Vehicle).
  • Washington State Food Handler Permit within 14 days of start date.
  • Hepatitis “A” Vaccination- By date of hire.
  • MAST (Washington State Liquor Control Board Permit). 90 days from date of hire, or 1st class offered.
  • Work nights, weekends and holidays as required.

  • Requires the ability to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 75 pounds.

  • Constantly requires verbally expressing or exchanging ideas of important instructions accurately, loudly, or quickly.

  • Constantly requires repetitive movement of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Often requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks.
  • Occasionally requires standing and/or sitting for sustained periods of time.
  • Occasionally requires ascending or descending stairs or ramps using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
  • Occasionally requires raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally.
  • Occasionally requires stooping which entails the use of the lower extremities and back muscles. Infrequently requires crouching.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to tobacco smoke, moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The worker is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions, which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes, and is occasionally subject to outside environmental conditions and to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Travel Requirements

Local travel is occasionally required.
