GENERAL PURPOSE

This position is responsible for supporting the marketing team as it relates to special events, sponsorship, fundraising, and partnerships. This position works as part of a team to assist with coordination of all aspects of event planning, logistics, promotion, sponsorship procurement and fulfillment, meeting revenue goals, execution, and evaluation. Responsibilities include events such as community festivals, summer concert series, and 5K races.

REQIRED EDUCATION, QUALIFICATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Minimum of an associate degree plus at least two (2) years’ experience in marketing, special events, or hospitality. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and various media software (e.g. social media and e-marketing platforms) and possess an aptitude for learning additional software applications as needed. Must be proficient at operating standard office equipment. Experience with photoshop or other graphics software is helpful but not required. Must be able to make independent decisions and manage multiple tasks simultaneously with excellent organizational skills. Must have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Reliable transportation is required. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Work the hours necessary to complete projects and assignments.
  2. Plan, organize, and implement marketing programs and special events.
  3. Assist with the physical set-up and facilitation of special events as assigned.
  4. Assist in the promotion/marketing of special events (social media, emails, web updates, etc.).
  5. Assist with office tasks as assigned (preparing marketing materials, mailings, etc.).
  6. Assist with the management of sponsorship fulfillment and deliverables.
  7. Distribute event marketing materials to park district facilities and community businesses (e.g. posters, signage) in a timely manner.
  8. Prepare written and verbal reports as required.
  9. Follow the Wheaton Park District policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  10. Provide a high quality of customer service in a professional manner to the internal customer that will facilitate team building and exceptional customer service to the external customer.
  11. Proactively support the V.A.L.U.E.S. (integrity, fun, commitment, adaptability and growth, kindness, and service) on a daily basis.
  12. Maintain good safety awareness and follow all safety guidelines and procedures.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, ETC

Must have and maintain: a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record; Basset Certificate or obtain within 30 days of hire; and CPR/AED certified or obtain within one (1) year of employment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods with frequent repetitive hand/arm movements such as when working on a computer. This position must also be able to occasionally move objects such as event supplies, tables, etc. weighing up to 50 lbs. and rarely over shoulder and head weighing up to 50 lbs.; will position oneself to set up events. This position will be required to move about at indoor and outdoor events, position oneself to reach items overhead and below waist, and move over uneven ground.

ENVIONMENTAL DEMANDS

This position will work in an office atmosphere with moderate noise levels and lighting. This position will work in outside weather conditions which may be extreme, loud noise, and will continuously remain in a standing position and will be exposed to all weather conditions including rain, heat, humidity, etc. including biting and stinging insects and bugs.

HOURS

24-28 hours per week with some evenings and weekends required.

SALARY

$22.00 - $24.00 per hour DOE

$20.24 $25.30 $30.35
